A Little History About The Bridge

In the early 1900's, a forest fire burned down the logging road bridge crossing the creek just east of here. During prohibition, lumberjacks and town folk would use the phrase "meet at the burnt bridge" to gather there to socialize and drink what was then illegal moonshine.

After prohibition was repealed, Fred LaMason built a log cabin not far from that bridge where people could gather and drink, legally. That building is now the dining room.

Nestled in the tall pine trees and crystal clear lakes of northern Wisconsin, the Burnt Bridge continues to be the gathering place for hunters, fishermen and family vacationers. The rustic charm of the log cabin, the hearty drinks, the tasty food and the wild animals (both inside and out) keep people coming back again and again.

Joe and Helen have been operating the tavern and restaurant for more than eighteen years and welcome you. Stop in and stay a while!
